I, too, read books faster than I can write about them. I don't usually blog about them, but I do have a reading journal, and sometimes I stop to write some of my thoughts in it, but lately I've been reading each book in 2 or 3 days (and we're talking long books), and I think about them, but I need more, so I move on to the next book & devour it. I am a literature junkie! :) Enjoy reading your blog!

thanks for the plug. sorry about your ear worm. such a thing makes me think of THE WRATH OF KHAN, and you with a badly slicked-back toupeed ricardo montalban dangling out of your canals. i surely hope that is not the case.

i just belched and a mouthful of previously swallowed maker's mark sent a hot air balloon up my esophagus. gross.

I very much enjoyed reading your blog. I am not a regular here but I do come for a good catchup now and then. I wanted to thank you for your informative links and your eloquence in writing this. I have this in email format and I hope that you do not mind if I share with a few friends I know would be interested in viewing the links you have posted.

Goodness! Harington's gone!? What sadness, my boy. I lament along with you! Loved his work, especially his travelogue novel about Arkansas. Indeed, RIP.

Doomer, Plot Against America is one of those I've always intended to read. Roth kinda gets under my skin sometimes, though. I just finished his Human Stain, found myself loving and hating it simultaneously. There's just something about Roth, the man, that oozes over-confidence.

I hope you are well. How's the family. Not sure what triggered it, but I recently had this vivid memory of drinking gin at your wedding and then riding hung-over with Brad Green to the pre-wedding brunch.

great insight into the dynamic element of stories--and of THAT-story-meets-my-unfolding story. . . I bump up against it or it crashes into me. Also, a good reminder that we don't have to know a story, antecedent action to denoument, before penning it. Hmmm. I should peek at your website more often.

What does this mean? I know there are so many levels that people could take impressions from on their own, but if you are the kind of artist/writer who likes to talk about their work, what did YOU mean to get across in this poem?

Duder, Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, in health-conscious U.S.A., your metaphor breaks down: there is no such thing as a "cheap cigarette." I'll keep lookin' though.
